Our story
A hobby that became something special.
My name is Kobus Kotzé and Chakor Handmade started simply as a hobby.
It all began when I wanted to make something special for my wife, Charmaine, for Christmas. I started experimenting with resin , initially making unusual and colourful keyrings.
Then the idea came to mind.... Why not earrings? That little idea grew into what Chakor Handmade is today.
From a hobby to a love of earrings. I started making earring and taking them along to flea markets,bazaars and local events. seeing people discovering the designs, feeling and touching them and leaving with a smile upon their purchase , made the hobby even more enjoyable.
Over time, we began specialising in hypo-allergenic earrings for people with sensitive ears, because everyone should be able to enjoy something beautiful and different.
We also developed a love for fun and unusual party earrings, including our Glow in the Dark and UV Glow designs. These have become especially popular with our younger customers and anyone who enjoys something a little different.
Every piece is made with care. Chakor Handmade is still a hobby and a passion, rather than a large commercial jewellery business. That is important to us.
We don't mass-produce our designs. each piece is lovingly crafted, finished and prepared individually, with the hope that the person who buys it will really enjoy wearing it.
No two pieces are exactly the same.
There may be similar colours or themes, but because every piece is handmade, each one has its own little differences and character.
Why we do it.
the best part of making Chakor Handmade jewellery isn't simply making the earrings.
It is seeing someone happy when they find a piece that makes them feel special,
We love knowing that something we created by hand has become someone's favourite pair of earrings, a special gift or simply something that makes them smile when they put it on.
That is what keeps the hobby going. From a simple Christmas gift for Charmaine, to keyrings, to hundreds of unique earrings later.... Chakor Handmade is still about making something special for someone special.
